My furnace is not working and it is after normal business hours. What number should I call to get service?
Just dial our business number (507-893-4612) The call will be forwarded to our on call technician. If they don't answer leave a message on their voice mail and they will return your call.
I smell gas. Who should I call?
We can take care of any gas leaks, so call us. You can also call the gas company but normally they will only find the leak and then have you call us to fix it. If the gas smell is fairly strong , it would be wise to leave your house and call us from another location. Let the technician on call know about your situation.
My CO detector is going off what should I do?
Always assume the CO detector is working properly and call us immediately. We have the equipment to find the source of the problem and will advise you as to what needs to be done. If you have an attached garage avoid the temptation to let the car warm up with the garage door closed. CO can infiltrate the house rather quickly.
My furnace is not working, is there anything I can do before I call for service?
If you have a fairly modern furnace the first thing to check is the thermostat mode switch. It should be set for heat. It is not uncommon for this to get bumped to off while dusting. The second thing you can try is to turn the power off to the furnace and then back on again. This will reset the main control and it should try to start again. Some furnaces have diagnostic lights that can be viewed through a small window on the bottom door of the furnace. Count the number of blinks and look up the code in the operating manual. If all this fails just give us a call.
What are your after hour rates?
During the week and Saturday, all after hour calls will be billed out at a time and one half rate. Sunday calls are double time.
Do you do GEO?
Yes, we have been installing Geothermal systems since 1995. The 30% Federal tax credit is making this a very good time to install Geothermal in your home.
Do you do Infloor heating for Farm Shops?
Yes, we have done many farm shops with infloor heat. Some use Electric Boilers, Some Gas Boilers and Some Geothermal. Let us advise you as to what system would be best for you.
Do you fix washers and dryers?
No, we never have been in the appliance business. We do get calls almost weekly about this. The confusion is due to the fact that the Roerig Hardware is located just one block north and they sell and repair appliances. The two names are close and are easy to get mixed up.
What is an Air Sourced Heat Pump?
An Air Source Heat Pump is a special air conditioner that can reverse it's cycle in the winter. The warm air that is normally discharged outside in the summer is now discharged in the house. We normally turn off the air source units at 20 degrees Fahrenheit and below.
Do you work on Oil Furnaces?
If you have an Oil Furnace you should really consider changing this out to LP. The cost to operate and maintain the oil units has risen dramatically in the last few years. Yes, we still will work on the oil units. To clean and maintain an oil furnace properly can be time consuming and very expensive.
